New Hampshire Lottery Celebrates Record-Breaking Results In FY 2024

The New Hampshire Lottery Commission (NHLC) has announced that it broke several records in FY 2024, according to unaudited figures. Total sales were up around 5% year-over-year to a record $631 million, and revenue was up 7% to $200.7 million, another all-time high.

Chris Sununu, according to a press release. “Thanks to the awesome work of our teams and customer service that can’t be beat, the New Hampshire Lottery continues to reach new heights. That means better games, more prizes, and record funding to kids’ education!”
Another record broken
New Hampshire Lottery sales have increased by 62% over the past five years, equating to an additional $240 million per year.
“Another year, another record broken!” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery. “At the New Hampshire Lottery, our goal is always to maximize revenue for New Hampshire schools, while providing our players with fun and entertaining games.
“We certainly hit the mark this year! With the introduction of exciting new games, record high numbers from Tri-State Megabucks, new sports betting opportunities, and more, we are confident 2025 will be even more successful.”
The NHLC reported that nearly all of the lottery’s games saw higher sales compared with Fiscal Year 2023. For instance, Tri-State Megabucks sales were up almost 100%, following April’s record-breaking $13.9 million jackpot. Additionally, e-instant game sales were up by over 25%, while Powerball sales saw an increase of around 20%.
Over $2 billion and counting
Following approval from then-Gov. John W. King, the New Hampshire Lottery sold its first tickets on March 12, 1964, making it the oldest legal lottery in the United States. The organization celebrated its 60th anniversary this year.
Around 28% of the NH Lottery’s revenue supports public education. Over its history, the NH Lottery has contributed over $2.85 billion to schools across the state. Approximately 60% of the remaining funds are distributed as prizes, while retailer commissions, cost of sales, and administrative expenses make up the other 12%.
Players aged 18 and older can participate in various games through the NH Lottery, such as Mega Millions, Powerball, and Lucky for Life. The Lottery has also been part of the Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) since 1995.
