Online lottery courier Jackpocket has signed a new partnership with Barstool Sports, making it the exclusive digital lottery partner of the sports media and entertainment company.
Jackpocket’s parent company, DraftKings, paved the way with a similar agreement with Barstool in early 2024, marking this new collaboration as an expansion of a growing synergy between the two companies.
The collaboration positions Jackpocket to build on its existing partnerships with major U.S. sports leagues, including the NHL, MLB, and NFL. As the official digital lottery partner for these leagues, Jackpocket already has a strong presence in the sports entertainment market, and the Barstool deal expands its reach into an adjacent community of sports and gaming fans.
“Barstool is an American entertainment powerhouse that Jackpocket fans know and love. This collaboration allows us to reach our players directly and bring Jackpocket’s easy, convenient lottery experience to more like-minded Americans,” stated Jackpocket CEO Peter Sullivan, who is now senior VP of lottery at DraftKings. “We’re excited to bring fans opportunities to have fun and potentially win big with the best in the business.”
The new agreement grants Barstool Sports users access to Jackpocket’s lottery services directly through the media platform’s content, making it easier for Barstool’s audience to participate in digital lottery games. Barstool founder Dave Portnoy, along with other Barstool personalities like Pardon My Take podcast host Big Cat, will help introduce Jackpocket to their followers, blending the worlds of digital lottery and sports media.
The Portnoy method
To celebrate the new partnership, Barstool Sports has announced a special promotion featuring one of its personalities, Jersey Jerry. In an event styled after a lottery hunt, Jersey Jerry set out to locate a winning lottery ticket from a collection of thousands of possibilities. It finally paid off.
Dave Portnoy, Barstool’s founder, said of the collaboration, “Everyone knows we’re teamed up with DraftKings, and now we’re excited to be bringing Jackpocket into the mix. Our relationship is all about making it super easy for our fans to get in on the action, no matter where they are. What’s better than being able to play the lottery, and potentially win the jackpot, straight from your phone? Jackpocket makes it simple and fun.”
DraftKings’ acquisition of Jackpocket in May for $750 million set the stage for this new partnership. Jackpocket, which launched in the U.S. in 2019, has grown quickly. The company’s mobile app allows users to purchase lottery tickets from major U.S. lotteries remotely, prompting a Jackpocket representative to make the actual retail lottery purchase on the customer’s behalf.
DraftKings’ move to integrate Jackpocket into the Barstool ecosystem demonstrates the increasing overlap between digital entertainment, online sports betting, and lottery services. In February, DraftKings announced its own direct agreement with Barstool.
