Mega Millions Jackpot Up To An Even $800 Million For Tuesday Drawing
Meanwhile, six new millionaires were crowned in Friday night’s edition

The Mega Millions jackpot went unclaimed once again last Friday, meaning the top prize for Tuesday night is checking in at a cool $800 million, with a cash option of $401.8 million.
The drawing, to be held at 11 p.m. ET, will mark the 28th edition since someone last claimed the top prize. The last winner — for $552 million — hit it big back on June 4 and came forward a few days later to anonymously claim their prize.
If a winner is crowned this week, it will mark the seventh-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.
Last Friday’s drawing did mint six new millionaires, however, with those six people hitting the five white balls but missing out on the gold Mega Ball.
And while five of those winners — the tickets were sold in California, Florida, Illinois, New Hampshire, and Texas — won a million bucks, one lucky winner in Ohio took home $2 million because they spent the extra dollar on the Megaplier, which came in at 2X on Friday.
Lottery Geeks estimates some 40.8 million Mega Millions tickets were sold for Friday’s drawing, up over 4 million tickets from the previous game.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350.
Powerball ticks up
Meanwhile, no one hit the Powerball on Monday night, meaning the jackpot has moved up to $134 million for Wednesday’s drawing (cash value: $67.6 million).
Not only did no one match the winning numbers — 1, 16, 21, 47, 60, and the red Powerball of 5 — but no one matched the five numbers sans the Powerball. Translation: no new millionaires Monday night (womp womp).
Lottery Geeks estimates 9.4 million Powerball tickets were sold for Monday’s contest.
This was the ninth consecutive Powerball drawing without a winner, with the last victory coming Aug. 19, when a ticket sold in California took down the $44 million jackpot.
Tickets for either lottery cost $2, with most states offering a multiplier option for another buck.
Both lotteries are legal in all states except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah, and tickets are also sold in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Puerto Rico, customers can buy tickets for Powerball, but not Mega Millions.
