Powerball Jackpot Grows To Piet Mondrian Levels For Wednesday’s Drawing
If you like geometric patterns in primary colors, you’re in luck — you just need to win the $248 million drawing

See that picture up there? It is not a Piet Mondrian. It’s a reasonable facsimile, however, of Mondrian’s most famous work, Composition with Large Red Plane, Bluish Gray, Yellow, Black and Blue, which he painted in 1922.
Now, a few things you should know about us here at Lottery Geeks: We are not art aficionados, we had to look up how to spell “aficionados,” we never heard of something called a “Piet Mondrian” before today, and we are 100% positive that if you give us two minutes toying around with artificial intelligence we could create something exactly like that picture above.
Which is why we are scratching our heads at the notion that the original piece of artwork, which will be up for auction shortly, is widely expected to set a record for the price paid for a work from the Dutch artist who we would’ve bet at -600 odds was French.
At any rate, that piece of art, along with about 30 other pieces, is expected to go for about $250 million. All of it — including works by Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, two artists we have heard of, we’re not complete philistines — is currently owned by Louise Riggio, the window of Barnes & Noble founder Leonard Riggio.
Which means … yes, you can own a good chunk of this collection should you win Wednesday’s Powerball, which has an estimated jackpot of $248 million. Or, alternatively, you could just buy a boat and island and do some fingerpainting. Your call.
Nobody won Powerball Monday night — the numbers were 10, 11, 34, 59, and 68, with a red Powerball of 14. There was one Match 5 winner, with that $1 million ticket sold in Florida.
Lottery Geeks estimates 9.4 million tickets were sold for Monday’s drawing.
And here’s an oh-by-the-way: The first big winner of 2025 stepped forward last week, as 79-year-old Abbas Shafii of Oregon claimed January’s $328.5 million Powerball jackpot. He took the lump sum of $146.4 million, enough for a few Mondrians.
Mega Millions right behind
Mega Millions’ Tuesday jackpot is up to $181 million, with a $82.7 million cash value, after nobody won Friday night’s drawing.
Those numbers were 1, 13, 28, 37, 46, and a gold Mega Ball of 10.
There were no Match 5 winners, and Lottery Geeks estimates 12.6 million tickets were sold for Friday’s drawing.
Tickets for either lottery cost $2, with most states offering the multiplier option — which impacts any prize won except the jackpot — for an additional $1.
Both Powerball and Mega Millions are legal in all states except Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah. Tickets for both draw games are also sold in Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In Puerto Rico, customers can buy tickets for Powerball, but not for Mega Millions.
